Was making a run to Qdoba for lunch and as I was leaving our office's access road a Mazdaspeed3 was coming up the hill. The guy gave a huge grin and waved. First time I have had that happen outside of riding my motorcycle.
We have parked next to each other in the far corner of the lot (kind of jostling for that outside spot haha) on and off all year but have never run into each other.
He keeps his car immaculate. I don't know how but it's always shining. I need to give my FoST some loving this weekend.

That's interesting. I get waves from FoST drivers a lot (in my FoST) but always sort of assumed other hot hatch drivers would let their competitive side show before waving. You think maybe he was like "there goes that guy I park next to, I should say hello". Maybe he's like most of us and doesn't have enough car guys around. Dude just wants a friend! haha

I've had a little cross brand recognition and I know Porsche drivers do it, but not with Boxsters................. Dicks.

I came across that image when I was looking for a quick MS3/FoST shot. Made me giggle so I had to share. I believe it was from a ST forum.
And I have only seen three FoSTs and one FiST on the road in my area. Those four sitings have spanned an entire year.
My guess is that he was just saying hi exactly as you said because I was thinking the same thing! I think it's great when someone recognizes how great a hot hatch is...conversely it irks me a bit when someone laughs and says "soooooo... you drive a Focus?"
